The action of the Miras ouds is particularly low for exceptional playing comfort, but it is possible to adjust the height of the strings with this very special bridge.

The oud comes with a hard case, as well as 3 rishas (plectrums).
Important: The oud comes standard with 11 strings and is tuned from C to C. You can easily tune it in F-F by changing the strings.

Defining a sound is not an easy thing.
A sound is so subjective that it is often difficult to describe it in words.
We have tried at Sons de l'Orient to describe the sound of each oud through 4 axes:
- The Power: which includes the volume and the projection of the instrument
- The Warmth: which brings together the depth and roundness of the instrument. The greater the warmth, the more pronounced the low frequencies are, creating a warm and vibrant tone.
- The Resonance: which includes the sustain (the duration of the note) and the reverberation of the instrument. Strong resonance provides a rich, prolonged tone with beautiful reverb.
- The Tone: a word that describes the temper or character of the instrument.
Note that an advanced note doesn’t necessarily mean a better quality instrument:
For example, not all players are looking for a very loud sound, some are looking for an oud with much less volume for a more intimate game. Similarly for resonance, many old-style Arabic ouds had very dry sounds and resonance was not necessarily sought after. Same thought for warmth, although it is generally appreciated, too much depth/roundness in an instrument sometimes leads to a lack of percussion and attack, especially necessary for solos...
Note: Several models may have similar ratings and yet differ in quality and price. Indeed, these notes attempt to describe the overall sound of the instrument as much as possible, but many other factors come into play in the quality of the instrument such as: ease of play, responsiveness, sound complexity and richness, instrument finishes, etc…
